I can teach students from beginners up to grade 5 as well as support their band/orchestra programs at school or out of school, having been part of the band/orchestra programme at school myself for nearly 10 years now.
My musical history has elements of classical and jazz (and folk and reggae etc etc) - I personally love to explore all kinds of genres. I am a huge advocate for tailoring a students' learning to the styles they enjoy best, and exploring different musical avenues as the student progresses and becomes curious about different things.
Every student is different and they dictate the rhythm of each lesson. I have clear aims and techniques I use for beginners to grasp the basic concepts of the clarinet. It is an instrument of great complexity but with my teaching it can be made simple and fun.
Tailor Made Lessons Just For You. I want you to enjoy your music. What style of music do you like ? Let’s play it together ! Funk, jazz, rock, classical, blues, dance, country – hey, let’s learn some Christmas Carols with a reggae or polka feel if you would prefer. Learning to “play by ear” is just as important as “reading the notes”.
I have been teaching music for over 25 years. I love what I do. I have taught from my house, in studios and at schools. Teaching all ages and all genres. Lessons are catered to the student depending on what their needs are.
I teach only beginner and intermediate levels on Bb and base clarinet. My lessons are focused using study books such as 'Standard of Excellence'. Each lesson I will go through the material in the book until the student can successfully play it and help the student with any pieces they may have to play in class or in bands.
My teaching methodology is a bit unorthodox and focused more on the general skill set and personality of the student to help optimise learning efficiently. I try to drift away from common practices of teaching so that my students are able to engage their critical thinking in ways that would not be possible in standard teaching methodology.
I am Derrick Obara, my stage name is the Afro-Phonist. I love socializing and getting to know people especially when we relate musically. I am geared towards students who are passionate about music, the must have an aim to why they want to learn music.

My teaching method varies according to age and personality, but is basically a combination of traditional teaching, playing by ear, learning to read music, and alternative notation. I use many different strategies depending on the situation. Humour plays a large part in my teaching.
Lessons will go for 30 minutes and will cover a variety of styles and techniques. I normally teach towards the AMEB exam but am happy to look at other options. My lessons are best for Beginner to intermediate students, I can cater towards advanced saxophone students.

I am simply just a Uni student, looking to give some lessons on the side, and share my knowledge and love for music.
As a music teacher I am responsible for instructing students with the skills they will need to become successful musicians in their own right. This includes the basics of teaching how to play an instrument, as well as fundamental concepts such as tempo, pitch and rhythm.
Being a young individual myself, I am able to easily connect with younger students, and also have experience in childcare and youth work. In saying this however, I do not exclude mature age students from my tutelage, and am comfortable and confident in conversing with older pupils.
I will get to know the students level of proficiency and how they best learn and plan the lessons from there. I will set homework which is achievable and therefore allows for the student to stay engaged and enjoying the lessons.
I am currently teaching students that are in primary school and high school. Starting from preliminary to grade 5 on the AMEB exams. My lessons are broken up into scales and any theory that needs to be looked over and then working on the pieces of music. I teach students as I believe music can help assist kids in education and it is a nice skill to have.
Don't be afraid to take risks! I encourage my students to take risks and to challenge themselves. I want my students to find passion in what they are doing.
I have been teaching since 2013, and I currently have 24 students. I offer morning and evening lessons for my pupils.

I like students to learn by working through a song they know and like rather than just notes and a book.
I am equipped to teach clarinet players of all ages from a beginner to advanced level. My focus as a teacher is to ensure that the students have fun and really enjoy playing music. I wish to help my students achieve their musical goals, whether that be AMEB exams or songs from the school band or just playing music they find fun.
