About Cyrus
A Tutor You Can Trust With Your Education
When you hire a tutor, you are placing your time, academic goals, and confidence in another person's hands. I take that responsibility seriously. My commitment is to provide every student with a professional, respectful, structured, and encouraging learning environment where questions are welcomed, progress is measurable, and your individual goals remain at the center of every lesson.
My credibility as an educator comes from a genuinely interdisciplinary academic background. My education and experience span advanced science, neuroscience and neuropharmacology, healthcare administration, business, and legal studies, giving me extensive exposure to the analytical reasoning, scientific literacy, reading comprehension, research, writing, and problem-solving skills that students encounter throughout their education and on standardized examinations.
I also bring experience in scientific research, academic publication, and teaching in advanced educational environments. This means I understand academic material not simply as information to memorize, but as concepts that must be communicated clearly enough for another person to understand and apply independently.
Professionalism Is a Standard, Not an Extra
Students and parents should feel comfortable knowing that our tutoring relationship will remain focused on one purpose: the student's education and success.
I strive to be punctual, prepared, dependable, patient, and respectful. Sessions are conducted professionally through Zoom, expectations can be established from the beginning, and lessons are tailored to the student's academic objectives. Students should always feel comfortable asking questions, admitting when they don't understand something, and requesting another explanation without fear of embarrassment or judgment.
Credentials Matter—But So Does the Ability to Teach
An advanced education can demonstrate subject knowledge, but possessing knowledge and teaching it effectively are two different skills.
My approach is therefore not to overwhelm students with terminology or demonstrate how much I know. My job is to take complicated information and make it understandable to you.
If one explanation doesn't work, we'll try another. If a difficult question reveals a weakness in an earlier concept, we'll address that foundation before moving forward. If you already understand the fundamentals, we can move directly into more advanced applications, strategy, and practice.
That individualized approach allows our sessions to meet students where they actually are rather than where a standardized curriculum assumes they should be.
Confidence Built Through Competence
I don't believe in creating confidence through empty reassurance. The strongest academic confidence comes from becoming genuinely prepared.
We'll build that confidence through understanding concepts, practicing questions, identifying patterns in mistakes, developing effective strategies, and gradually turning weaknesses into strengths. I want you to see evidence of your own improvement.
Whether you are preparing for the GED, LEAP, PSAT, SAT, ACT, MCAT, LSAT, GMAT, college coursework, or graduate-level study, my role is to provide structure, knowledge, accountability, and encouragement while helping you develop the independence necessary to perform successfully on your own.
My educational background establishes the foundation for my credibility. My professionalism, preparation, patience, and your measurable progress are how I intend to earn your trust.
You aren't simply hiring someone to provide answers. You are choosing an educator who will take your goals seriously, respect you as a student, and work to ensure that every lesson provides meaningful value toward becoming a more capable, confident, and independent learner.

More Than Test Prep — Learn How to Think, Perform, and Succeed
Standardized tests can be intimidating, but they don't have to define what you're capable of achieving. My goal as your tutor is simple: help you understand the material, develop a strategy that works for you, and walk into test day more prepared and confident than when we started.
What makes my tutoring different is the breadth of academic, teaching, and professional experience I bring to every session. My education spans the sciences, healthcare, business, and law, including graduate-level scientific training in neuroscience and neuropharmacology. I have experience with scientific research and publications as well as teaching students in advanced academic environments.
That interdisciplinary background is particularly valuable for standardized-test preparation. Tests such as the SAT, ACT, PSAT, GED, LEAP, MCAT, LSAT, and GMAT measure different subjects, but they share something important: success requires more than memorization. Students need to recognize patterns, analyze information efficiently, eliminate incorrect answers, manage their time, and remain composed when confronted with unfamiliar problems.
Why Work With Me?
I teach the student—not just the test.
Everyone processes information differently. Rather than forcing every student into the same study program, I identify your strengths, weaknesses, learning style, and goals and build our sessions around them.
I make complicated material understandable.
Years of advanced education have taught me that truly understanding a subject means being able to explain it clearly. If my first explanation doesn't click, I'll find another way to approach it until it does.
We'll focus on reasoning, not endless memorization.
Knowing facts matters, but standardized tests frequently reward students who understand how to apply information. We'll work on the reasoning behind questions so that you're better prepared when the test presents familiar concepts in unfamiliar ways.
Your mistakes become part of the strategy.
A missed question isn't something to be embarrassed about—it tells us exactly where we can improve. We'll analyze why an answer was missed, determine whether the problem involved knowledge, reasoning, timing, or test strategy, and work on preventing the same type of mistake in the future.
You'll be treated with patience and respect.
There are no embarrassing questions in my sessions. Whether you're preparing for your GED, trying to improve your SAT or ACT score, preparing for graduate or professional school, or returning to academics after years away, you deserve an environment where you can learn without feeling judged.
An Educational Background That Spans Multiple Disciplines
One of the advantages I bring to tutoring is the ability to approach problems from several academic perspectives. My background encompasses science, research, healthcare, business, and legal education, giving me experience with the types of analytical thinking encountered across very different examinations.
That breadth can be particularly useful for students preparing for interdisciplinary tests. Rather than viewing reading, mathematics, science, logic, and analytical reasoning as completely separate abilities, I can help you develop transferable problem-solving skills that apply across subjects.
Flexible, Individualized Online Tutoring
I understand that students have school, work, family responsibilities, and unpredictable schedules. That's why I offer highly flexible Zoom tutoring seven days a week, including late-night and unconventional scheduling when available.
Sessions can include diagnostic review, subject-matter instruction, practice questions, timed exercises, test-taking strategies, error analysis, study planning, and targeted preparation for areas where you need the most improvement.
Most importantly, I don't want you to become dependent on a tutor.
I want you to become better at teaching yourself.
The ultimate goal is for you to encounter a difficult question and no longer think, "I can't do this." Instead, I want you to have the knowledge and strategy to think:
"I may not know the answer yet—but I know how to figure it out."
That's the confidence and independence I want every student to take away from our lessons.
