About Raeed

As a graduate student in Electrical Engineering at the University of Alberta with over six years of tutoring experience, I’ve worked with students from diverse backgrounds and skill levels. I specialize in making complex STEM subjects like math, physics, and science feel approachable, no matter where you’re starting from. I believe learning should be open, encouraging, and rooted in understanding rather than memorization. What sets me apart is that I’ve never been a “natural genius.” I’ve always had to work hard, ask questions, and find different ways to make things click. That perspective allows me to connect with students who feel stuck or discouraged because I’ve been there too. I approach every lesson with patience, structure, and genuine care, and I’m committed to helping you feel confident and capable in your learning journey.

I believe the best way to learn is through three key steps: 1. Understanding the core of the Material - The why behind what we're doing: why it matters and any practical applications. 2. Working through the Material - How each problem should be solved, based on our understanding of the material and the theoretical framework we've developed. 3. Applying the Material - Once you understand and can solve problems, we explore how to apply those ideas in new or practical ways, whether it’s for exams, labs, or real-life scenarios. Each lesson starts with a quick review and goal-setting. We start by grasping the theory and applications behind the work we are doing. We then break down key concepts using simple examples, followed by guided problem-solving to reinforce understanding. The session ends with a recap and next steps for independent practice. I believe what sets me apart as a tutor, especially for complex STEM topics, is that I can relate to my students. I was never as naturally smart as my peers, nor did I ever feel satisfied with my results. I always worked hard, looked for different resources, and tried to perform my best whenever possible. Even now, I'm still the same person. Constantly learning, asking questions, and refining how I understand difficult topics. That mindset allows me to connect with students who are struggling, because I’ve been there. I know how frustrating it feels when something doesn’t click, and I also know how powerful it is when it finally does. As a tutor, I’m not just here to just teach, I’m here to guide, encourage, and problem-solve with my students until they feel confident and capable. My lessons are geared towards Grades 5-12 students looking for help in math or the sciences. I can also help first and second year electrical engineering students in their circuits courses. In general, I can tutor in Calcs 1-3, Linear Algebra 1-2, Complex Analysis, Real Analysis, Differential Equations, and PDE's.
