About Joseph
My name is Joseph Devlin, 26 years old and I have 15 years of guitar playing experience. I had my first lesson In classical guitar at the age of 7 which I learn for a year. I then picked up the electric guitar as I started secondary school and never put it down since. I progressed from school to college achieving 2 distinctions and merit in a music performance diploma at Lewisham college, south London.
After achieving these grades, it was more then enough for me to move to Brighton to study professional musician at BIMM Brighton. At university, jazz music became a centre point of my own learning as the theory behind the genre crosses over into over past genres such a blues, rock n roll and even classical music such a baroque music. During my time at university I have also played in other bands performing around brighton and now currently have my own band called Blue Hour where I sing as well play guitar.

My approach would be to understand the pupils musical influences or determination that aspired them to learn how to play guitar. From there on we’ll dive straight into the basic knowledge such as chords, notes on the fret board and theory. The lessons will be mostly practical to begin with, learning a wide range of reportoir from early 60’s music to contemporary pop.
As the lessons progress, we can start to look at music theory to determine why certain chords sound different to each other and of which will enable the pupil to adopt in to their own song writing, improving their skills in becoming a creative mind.

Great tutor. Makes the lessons fun, engaging and inspired you to try new things. Have really seen progression in my guitar playing and would reccomend him most highly to anyone in the Brighton area.
My boy loves his lessons with Joe, even if Joe can be a little handsy.
