About Afaf
I am a professor of linguistics anthropology and language. I taught various university levels at highly acclaimed schools, such as UCLA and USC. I also worked with high-school students in study abroad and summer intensive programs, which were challenging, yet pleasant experiences. I understand that college students are motivated differently than high school students in the ways in which they lead their career path and school duties. My research usually inspires my pedagogies; thus, I often involve my students in my research. For example, I opened opportunities to participate in conferences and interviewed students for my work, which usually inspire them and open new doors to be involved in their education and world issues in general.

I plan my lessons after assessing students' needs and learning aptitude, and build my pedagogy accordingly. I also consider their special talents, future career interests, cultural and linguistic background, and home practices, then build the content of my teaching to fit their diverse investments and abilities. My main philosophy and primary objective are to demonstrate learning strategies, rather than feeding students with content that may be forgotten shortly after graduation.
