About Akshaya

Hi! I’m Akshaya, a student at The George Washington University studying Finance and Organizational Sciences. I really enjoy working with young students and helping them feel more confident in reading, writing, and English overall.

I know that school can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when it comes to homework, so I try to make learning feel a little less stressful and a lot more manageable. I’m very patient and supportive, and I like to break things down in a way that actually makes sense. I also try to keep sessions engaging so students stay focused but don’t feel bored or discouraged.

Outside of school, I’ve spent a lot of time working in fast-paced environments and being around people, which has helped me become really organized, reliable, and good at communicating. I genuinely care about the students I work with and want them to feel comfortable asking questions and improving at their own pace.

About the lesson

Hi! My name is Akshaya, and my approach as a tutor is centered around patience, encouragement, and making learning feel approachable rather than stressful. I primarily work with young children and focus on helping them feel more confident in their English skills, especially when it comes to homework, reading, and writing.

My teaching style is very personalized. I understand that every child learns differently, so I adjust my approach based on what works best for them. I like to break concepts down into simple, clear steps and use examples they can relate to. I also make sure to create a comfortable environment where students feel okay asking questions and making mistakes.

A typical session usually starts with reviewing any homework or assignments the student has. I prefer receiving the homework the child has to complete before the lesson so that I can prep our lessons accordingly. From there, we work through the material together, focusing on understanding rather than just completing it. If there are areas they struggle with, I take extra time to explain those concepts and give additional practice to reinforce them. I also like to incorporate reading exercises or small writing activities to build overall literacy and confidence.

What sets me apart is that I genuinely care about making students feel supported. As someone who values education and mentorship, I focus not only on improving grades but also on helping students feel more confident in their abilities. I am patient, organized, and reliable, and I always aim to make each session both productive and positive.

My lessons are best suited for young learners and elementary school students who need support with English homework, reading, literacy, spelling, and early writing skills.
