About Lewis

I have a passion from criminology and criminal justice. I enjoy parting wisdom and knowledge in these areas and really enjoy encouraging open and lively debates on these topics.

I want to go on and complete a PhD in the field of economic crime and social harms next year.

I spent some time teaching students last year and loved it so would no like to carry on with this before heading back into studies myself.

About the lesson

Hello lovely people :) I have a bit of background in law and criminology. Throughout my studies and my career so far, my biggest strentgth has been writing and research. If you're struggling with writing assignments, even if I don't know much about the subject, I can still help you with that!

I graduated with a Scots Law degree and went on to undertake an MSc in Comparative Criminal Justice at Leiden University in the Netherlands – a degree combining many different disciplines including law, criminology and political science.

I have held down a number of jobs within the field of criminal justice - primarily financial crime, which is what I wrote my thesis on for my MSc. I therefore bring a bit of practical experience to my academic knowledge. However, my passion is academia and I will be looking to apply for a PhD next year.

I spent last year lecturing criminology and criminal justice classes at two different universities in London. My approach to teaching was to be as interactive as possible. I preferred to engage students and encourage them to speak as openly and freely as possible. This often involved putting students on the spot, however I would always do my best to assist them in coalescing their ideas. I also liked to make the curriculum as relevant to current events as possible.

I would bring this approach to our lessons together and would be delighted to assist you deducing concepts within law and criminology. I can also help you with forming legal arguments.

I have experience in writing strong essays with original ideas and can help with planning, writing and proofreading – this would extend to topics beyond law and criminology. I can also help in generating ideas and providing support for the dissertation and thesis process.

My lessons in London included many ESL students so I am capable of helping with the translation of thoughts/ideas/writing into a more succinct final draft.
