I believe in the importance of teaching by example. My lessons typically consist of instructive example problems where big-picture discussions of the value of the method are presented post-solution! I believe that this approach peaks a students interest and then solidifies how useful this method might be in everyday-life. Long theoretical discussions before presenting students with example problems are minimal in my lessons as many students lose focus by the end of them.
