Mathematics is not a subject where you memorise formulae, cram some solution & rote them on exam paper. It's a subject to learn by heart that has everything to interest even the most nonchalant student. It's an expression of nature, you'll never see 2+2 become more or less than 4 in the world, nor will you see 2÷2 result in any quantity else than 1. These laws can't be reversed but utilised to adjust what you need.
