About Brandon

My name is Brandon and I'm a California native. I've always loved mathematics and software, and am trying to aim my career toward foundational AI work. I'm currently in a period of upskilling for my next career hunt, and in the meantime I'm trying to protect my savings by making some money sharing what I've learned in my professional career. I have 9 years of full-time software/data engineering experience, mostly with Python and SQL. I am extremely passionate about software design, and have always strived to understand what did, and didn't, work in my software projects, and why. Good professional software developers thrive on communication, and I consider myself an excellent communicator. I'm confident that I can break down concepts for you, explain where your gaps in understanding are, and walk you through training exercises that will help you master programming and/or software development.

About the lesson

In general, the only way to learn programming is to, well, program. However depending on where your knowledge gaps are, I vary the type of problem, its complexity, and the amount of assistance I provide during the design and writing phases of coding.

If your primary struggle is with basic language concepts, we will work on simple problems that tackle single concepts, and when you get stuck I will teach you how to use Google, Copilot, and/or StackOverflow to quickly look up basic programming questions.

On the other end of the spectrum, if you're a seasoned dev who just wants a crash course on python, I'll sit down with you and have a discussion about the unique features of python compared to the languages you're familiar with, we will find a moderately complex problem you want to work on, I'll assist you in the design phase, and I'll perform code reviews at intervals as you build out the program.
