My Teaching Approach for Polytechnic Chemical Engineering Students
As a Chemical Engineering tutor, I focus on building a strong foundation of concepts while connecting theory to real-world industrial applications. My aim is to make complex topics understandable, engaging, and practical for diploma-level students.
Teaching Techniques and Methods:
I use a mix of concept-based teaching, visual aids (diagrams, process flows, charts), and problem-solving sessions. I often include examples from industries like petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, and wastewater treatment to show how classroom knowledge applies in real life. I also use digital tools, simulations, and short videos to enhance understanding of processes like distillation, heat exchange, or reaction kinetics.
Usual Structure of a Class:
Each session is structured into four parts:
Recap: A quick review of the previous class to ensure continuity.
Concept Introduction: Explanation of new topics using simple language and analogies.
Application and Problem Solving: Practice through numerical, case studies, or design-based questions.
Q&A / Interaction: Time for doubts and discussions to encourage active learning.
Assignments, short quizzes, and feedback sessions are also a regular part of my teaching cycle to track progress and strengthen learning.
