I am currently Head of Psychology and the Learning & Teaching Co-Lead at a successful independent school and have over 10 years' experience teaching and tutoring GCSE, A Level (AQA) and undergraduate level students of Psychology.

I want my students to be successful, and my hope is that those who study with me end up sharing in my love of Psychology and, more generally, my love of learning. Sessions are tailored to the individual needs of each student, and we will discuss these needs prior to our first session.
I have tutored a diverse range of students at various levels, with a variety of target grades. Most of my sessions are divided into two parts: course content consolidation (if required) and application of skills (tackling past paper questions together), with assessments set after each session. With the often substantial content involved in Psychology programmes, I place strong emphasis on retrieval practice- both of current topics and previously covered material- often through quick-fire plenary activities.
I embrace teaching methods that involve an appropriate balance of teacher-led learning and support alongside pupil-centred activities, where students are encouraged to learn from mistakes, self-reflect, and build upon their skills- ultimately preparing them not just for examinations, but for life beyond assessments too.
I have developed a substantial bank of resources, including module-specific ‘top tips’ sheets (drawn from my experience as an examiner), and a collection of complete model essays for each module of the A Level specification. In addition, I have created a set of Research Methods flashcards that summarise core course content of this notoriously tricky module in a clear, manageable way, reducing the cognitive overload that is often present in the A Level textbooks. These flashcards also have exam questions interwoven throughout, allowing students to practise applying their knowledge as they work through the material.
