About Lia
With 5 years of experience as a singing tutor, I specialize in helping students transform their passion for music into polished vocal performance. Whether you’re a middle schooler discovering your voice or a college student preparing for an audition, my approach combines expert guidance with heartfelt encouragement to help you sing with confidence and skill. My teaching style is rooted in practical application and performance readiness. We don’t just warm up and sing—we analyze songs, understand the meaning behind the lyrics, and bring the emotions to life through vocal interpretation. I help students master vocal techniques such as pitch control, breath support, phrasing, diction, and agility, while also incorporating mental preparation techniques to build confidence before performances. One of my unique methods is incorporating “vocal storytelling labs,” where students learn to emotionally map songs and align vocal tone with expression. We also practice microphone technique, song dynamics, and vocal improvisation, which trains students to think musically and perform freely. I use technology such as pitch detection tools, rhythm apps, and virtual duet simulations to make lessons interactive and fun. Students receive personalized practice tracks, progress logs, and even video reviews of their practice sessions to gain valuable self-awareness and make consistent progress. Whether you want to sing in your school choir, join a college a cappella group, or perform your own original songs, I’m here to guide you every step of the way. Together, we’ll build your voice, your confidence, and your ability to move an audience. Let’s unlock the artist within you—your voice deserves to be heard!

The voice is the only instrument made of flesh and breath, emotion and intention. It reflects the whole person—physically, emotionally, and psychologically—and therefore, vocal study must address the singer as a complete human being. My teaching philosophy embraces this holistic approach. I guide students in developing a functional technique that prioritizes vocal health, efficiency, and comfort. We work on breath engagement, resonance balance, phonation ease, and range coordination, always tailored to the student’s body and stylistic needs. These skills are taught through practical exercises, anatomical awareness, and intuitive exploration. Rather than enforcing a rigid standard, I help students uncover how their voice naturally wants to work. At the same time, I focus on unlocking expressive clarity. I coach students to make interpretive decisions rooted in text, emotion, and musical intention. We analyze lyrics and scores, create backstories for characters, and explore emotional context through physical and imaginative methods. I encourage students to make bold choices and to connect their personal experiences to the stories they tell. Repertoire selection is also an important part of this process. I curate pieces that align with each singer’s voice, personality, and growth trajectory, while also expanding their exposure to diverse musical traditions. We study not only how to sing a piece, but why it matters—its historical background, cultural context, and potential impact on today’s audience. This fosters an ethic of responsibility and respect in performance. Singing is a vulnerable and evolving pursuit, and perseverance is essential. I help students embrace the learning curve with self-compassion, build healthy routines, and celebrate small milestones. I encourage regular reflection and goal-setting to help track progress and maintain momentum. My goal is to cultivate independent, empowered singers who trust their instrument, know how to care for it, and feel confident sharing their voice in any setting. Through the integration of technique, expression, context, and mindset, my studio becomes a place of growth, exploration, and meaningful transformation.
