The method that works best with students across board is the use of exam papers to practice from.
My lessons are specifically catered for students between the ages of Year 7-10.
My lesson consists of:
- Do now style questions
- I do questions--where I will do some model style questions in an exam and my students can watch and ask questions etc
- We do questions--where me and the student will answer some questions together i.e I solve the question and ask the student which steps come next and what to do as if they are answering the question.
- You do questions-- a set of questions are provided for the student where they are able to spend some independent time to answer between 5-10 questions which will then be marked by me on the spot
- We will then end the session on some light exam style questions which will be solved by the student and marked and gone through together
My tutoring style which has been said to set me apart from other tutors is my patience with my students as I would prefer for my students to understand the content being taught to them rather than cover more content and rush through it having little understanding.
