As a peer tutor, I approach lessons in a student’s mindset and try to understand not just the math problem the student is struggling with, but the concept that isn’t being understood. Being around the same age, I’m able to be a pillar of comfort and I’m a very forgiving and understanding as a tutor. I usually start with an easy problem in the math topic we’re struggling with and see what fundamental skill is missing and we work on that until we can move onto harder problems.
