About Kaye
Hi, my name is Kaye Norris and I've always loved sharing my knowledge with others! This is especially true when it comes to writing, which is my strongest content area and also one of my favorite hobbies! Although I have never formally tutored in English before, I am the go-to proofreader for my classmates and friends whenever we have an essay due and will gladly help anyone who asks in whatever way that I can. I also have experience as a Chemistry tutor at school and often help my younger brother with his homework, no matter the subject, so I am well-versed in sharing my knowledge with others and explaining new concepts in a way that makes sense. Many of those who I have helped are neurodivergent or have learning disabilities, so rest assured that I can meet you where you're at with ZERO judgment! I love to think outside of the box and find new perspectives, so please feel like you can be honest with me about your needs and your unique perspective. I'm here to help you, after all :)

Over the years, my writing skills have been praised by teachers, peers, and even college professors, and I would love to share some advice and feedback with others. I have a lot of experience with college-level writing for AP and dual credit classes, where my essays consistently get top marks. I can assist in brainstorming and revising college and scholarship application essays, or essays needed to apply to different internships and organizations. Through proofreading and providing suggestions on already written essays or through helping students come up with a concept for an essay they still need to write, I can allow them to ensure that their voice, message, and qualifications shine through as brightly as possible. I can also assist in preparing students for AP Seminar & Research exams by looking over literature reviews, research methods, presentations, and research papers throughout the whole research process. I received a 4 out of 5 on AP Seminar, and expect to receive at least a 4 out of 5 on the AP Research exam as well. This means that I can help students through the daunting research process and give them advice based on my personal experience with the AP Capstone Program. Additionally, I excelled on the AP World History Exam, scoring a 5 out of 5, so I will readily help students build up their LEQ, DBQ, and SAQ skills in preparation for that exam and others that are similarly structured (such as APUSH). Writing these essays in the short time allotted can be difficult for students, but I can assist in helping them maximize their time and strategically plan and write their essays based on the AP rubric. I also achieved much success in my AP English Language & Composition class, where I earned at least a 5 out of 6 on every essay I wrote for the class and expect to get a 5 out of 5 on the exam I took in May. Whether it be the Synthesis, Rhetorical Analysis, or Argument essay, I can help students better decipher prompts, formulate a thesis and line of reasoning, and provide adequate evidence and commentary in a way that will hold up against the toughest of graders. Although my lessons are geared towards High School students in AP Classes, I am willing to meet any student where they are at and provide as much help as possible on their journey to becoming a strong writer. Writing doesn't come naturally to everyone, but persistent effort and good feedback can allow them to grow and improve on past mistakes to strengthen their writing skills.
