About Shama
I have worked at both Kumon, Mathnasium, and tutor on Schoolhouse World. I combine the various learning approaches from all my educational experiences to ensure a holistic learning experience. Moreover, I volunteer at a nonprofit, creating educational material in mathematics. Finally, I have a passion for math and teaching - I genuinely enjoy helping others in this way. I can guarantee an experience where my student will get 100% of my effort and be provided with all the scaffolds to uplift themselves.

Since I grew up in India, I have very strong foundations in math. Many students who lack the foundation I was lucky to build tend to struggle as they progress to higher levels. I like to address the root causes of misconceptions in order to ensure the student learns more efficiently, saving time and energy for both parties. As I have experienced various education systems- private,public, international - I am aware of the discrepancies within each and how students can be affected. A typical lesson plan includes a quick lecture, practice, and analysis of why we take the actions we do in math. I can teach any level from counting to precalculus.
