About Will
I am a second year student at the University of York studying History, with a particular focus on modern history from 1850s onwards. I have tutored students previously from Year 7 up to Year 11 for a year at a highly competitive grammar school. I have mentored students both one-on-one and in groups to help improve their understanding across multiple subjects and have past experience with helping students with university applications, including Medicine applications. I obtained an A* in History at GCSE and the eqivalent of an A at A-level as I studied the International Baccalaureate.

I am happy and confident to teach students up to first year university level. I take a strongly personalised approach to teaching, allowing students to guide the sessions, self identifying their weaknesses and topics that they want to improve on. I will provide thought-provoking sessions which will engage students and nurture confidence in writing essays, historical content and analysis. Debating and talking through history as a subject is often more valuable than repetitive, independent learning and encouraging students to ask questions on an issue is both important within the classroom and as a future life skill.
