About Lucy
I am a new mother returning to music tuition with a fresh energy towards a craft which I love. Whilst being extensively trained as a specialist in my field, I believe it’s my personality that fosters a positive learning environment in which clients can thrive. I am empathetic, dynamic and creative with unwavering patience.

My teaching style is adapted to the client’s learning style, being dynamic, responsive and empathetic. I love to look at the ‘whole musician’ which means we don’t just play from one tune to the next from a book- I will deliver sessions that include things like rhythm games, movement, breathwork, aural skills, improvisation (don’t panic!), instrument care and so much more. I am especially interested in music as a therapeutic tool and for self-exploration. I welcome those looking to reconnect with an instrument or their voice. I am an experienced music for health facilitator, having run evidence-based singing groups for those living with dementia, Parkinson’s and for wellbeing. I support those undertaking music GCSE, A-levels and beyond and have 100% flying colours success rate in ABRSM exams (practical and theory). I create my own teaching resources and also quickly establish any barrier's to the student's learning which could look like limiting beliefs, mind chatter, inefficient practice techniques, anatomical/mechanical issues and much more.

Lucy is a wonderful teacher. She offers expert tuition in your chosen instrument, but more than that, she creates a space where the student can explore their own musicality and creativity in a safe and encouraging way.
She taught both me (38) and my daughter (10) and was able to offer tuition that was bespoke to us both.
I have also attended one of Lucy's singing for wellbeing groups and found her to be the most supportive, creative and kind facilitator. It offered a beautiful space for expression and self care and I would strongly recommend those groups to anyone looking for a creative was to pause and reflect.
Oh wow, where to start. I was gifted a saxophone and decided to ‘start’. I was fortunate enough to find lucy straight away-fortunate for me, probably not for lucy-although she certainly never made me feel that way. Lucy has an amazing talent for teaching and coaching, supporting and growing. I couldn’t read a note when we first met. If never picked up an instrument before and lucy was not deterred from the challenge. We laughed and worked our way steadily through my music books. My music lesson became the highlight of my week. I strongly recommend lucy, whether you’re just starting out or well done the path.
I have known Lucy for some years now. We met on a celebrants training course in Glastonbury.
Lucy is one of the most kind, honest and forthright people that I know. She was utterly dedicated on her course, has a calm wisdom that is beyond her years, and was often seen helping and guiding other students that were on her course, students that were older than her.
The way in which Lucy did this, without even thinking about it made it obvious that she had a lot of experience and skill in teaching.
She is very supportive, and flexible, yet structured in her teaching style. I know if you are drawn to her as your tutor Lucy will do her very best to help you achieve whatever it is you wish to get from your sessions with her.View more recommendations
