About Odhran

The English language and literature it produces has always been a keen passion and interest of mine. I have been an honours student since starting in the second-level northern Irish equivalent, however I have familiarized myself with last years and this years most up do date English leaving certificate curricula.
My passion for teaching the subject originated from simply studying with my friends, sharing my notes and explanations and encouraging them to step up from pass to honors level. By teaching on multiple platforms online, I have continued this with students from all over Ireland. I do not have one set way of doing things, but a basic guideline. I’ve come to learn that everyone learns differently and each student has their own needs and wants in education, which I do my best to meet. The first 20 minutes of your first lesson with me would be getting to know each other a little and discussing how you want your lessons to go and when you want to schedule them during the week, as well as discussing cost per lesson.

About the lesson

My method for teaching lies in simplistic notes and verbal explanations of course material. Ordinary level English Leaving certificate students need a basic understanding of their course content, before using their English writing skills to expand on the course material. I will help develop these writing skills through short and easy exercises. I treat all of my students as equals, as I am a student myself, and I’m a firm believer that students’ academic achievements thrive under encouragement, understanding and patience.
The lessons take place over Google meets and last approximately 40 minutes each time. Every lesson is recorded so students can review previous lessons when in need.
These lessons are open to 3rd year ordinary level English students onwards, however the lesson content would be more revenant and beneficial to Transition Years and ordinary level English 5th year students.

Details

So this website says €10 per hour but that’s my rate for 40 minute. However if you need an extra minutes, I’m more than happy to give that free of charge. If you’re looking for a lesson to revise over one part of your course I recommend you schedule one lesson. If you’re looking for regular English grinds, I recommend you get a pack of either 5 or 10 hours depending on your needs. For five lessons you get €20 off and for 10 you get €30 off. Im also happy to discuss changes depending on what suits you.
