Hi! My name is Charlotte and I'm currently an MA (Hons) English student at the University of St Andrews. I am offering tuition for 11+, GCSE, National 5, Higher, and A-Level English students. I am really passionate about English and love to share that with students! I truly believe that enjoying a subject can make the journey to learning and understanding content so much easier and I strive to provide an understanding and constructive environment. Whether you wish to study English at a higher level (e.g. A-Level/university) or are focusing on GCSE, I am happy to adapt my teaching style to the individual needs of the student whilst balancing the demands of exam technique and assessment objectives. Some of the key skills fundamental to English Literature are understanding the relationship between context, the content of the primary text, and 'close reading'. The wonderful thing about this subject is that there is a lot of room for argumentation, creativity, and bringing in your own interpretation. I want to encourage students as much as possible to feel empowered to voice their ideas and opinions! I have previously tutored GCSE Mathematics and Latin and currently tutor students in GCSE English Language, Literature and Mathematics. Having achieved 10 9s (including English Language & English Literature) and an 8 at GCSE and A*AA in A-Level English Literature, History, and Economics respectively, I have a strong record of academic success and hope to share study methods that have worked for me! Typically, lessons would last for 1 hour.

I have been a student of Charlotte's for a few months, and she has really helped me understand A-level English content that my teachers did not fully explain. Charlotte is always very prepared for the lessons, can analyse the texts with lots of examples and explanations, and has helped me with my essay technique.
She is an excellent tutor. I am able to talk freely with her without feeling anxious and am comfortable asking questions when I am confused on something. She is able to explain topics very well and also is a very good listener and advice giver. :)
