About Cathleen
"Teaching exists for me because language is a bridge to new worlds. The smell of old textbooks in my early university days at Monash still lingers in my memory as I look at my Bachelor of Arts in French Studies. During my 13 years of teaching, I have encountered 358 unique students ranging from young children to adults moving abroad. I genuinely enjoy the process of breaking down grammar so it feels manageable rather than overwhelming.
You might find my style a bit informal at times, as I prioritize comfort and clarity. I plan to keep things light and straightforward to support your growth."

"Slow progress often happens because students try to speak too quickly before mastering the basics. Speed is actually your enemy when you are building a new foundation in French. I prioritize steady pacing and constant feedback to ensure every phrase is pronounced correctly.
We will practice role play and dialogue to prepare you for real life interactions or necessary interviews. My 13 years of experience means I know exactly where beginners tend to stumble. Sometimes we focus on simple everyday phrases. Sometimes we dive deep into grammar.
Just one step at a time. I promise to keep our time together productive and calm."
