About Garison
I promise that I can go through all the problems you encounter in your trumpet journey. Students come to me without knowing how to hold the trumpet, and now can play with ease.
This is my story:
Garison, Started his music studies focusing on the music Solfeggio and basic theory at the age of 8 (2008) under the guidance of Maestro Ray Sciberras within a local band club, the Societa Filarmonica Maria Mater Gratiae in Żabbar, Malta.
After 2 years (2010), he was introduced and started learning trumpet under the guidance of Maestro Kevin Mizzi within the same band club. In 2011, Garison debuted for the first time in front of an audience at a local Christmas Concert as a duo with a piano.
Following that, in 2012, he was published as an official band member and started to perform in several local feasts around Malta. Meanwhile he started to also study music under the guidance of Maestro Ugo Buhagiar within the St Margaret College Secondary School where he also performed in concerts and events like the Chogm in 2015. After a few years Garison decided to become a freelance musician and ended up being self-taught for a while.
In 2018, went to Italy to broaden his knowledge on the art of trumpet playing and from that time onwards, Garison have studied with several teachers and trumpet players from around the world. With:
Andrea Tofanelli ,Bobby Shew, Joe Magnarelli, Yeray Gonzalez Nuez, Mark Upton, Juan Carlos Montiel, Fabio Bau, Antoine Colin, Andrea Lucchi, Ruben Simeo, Andrea Dell'Ira, Jim Manley, Gary Fountain, Ravi H Best, Jordan Hoffman, Ryszard Bezpalko, Isaac P. Swanson, Jumaane Smith, Serafin Aguilar, Andrea Giuffredi, Jens Lindemann, Arturo Sandoval, Bryan Davis, Gerard Prescencer, Pacho Flores, Mike Lovatt.
Locally in Malta, Garison have been performing and performed with several bands, orchestras and events like with the Malta Concert Orchestra, Versatile Brass, The Big Band Brothers, Fakawi, The Travellers, at the Malta Eurovision Song Contest, at a local festival Mużika Mużika, with D Capitals Big Band, Brass Tubes, The United Nations of Salsa Big Band, and more. For some years, he was also the trumpet soloist for the Malta Police Force Band.
In 2022, Garison was selected to attend a course with The Royal Marines Band in the UK where he had the opportunity to perform and march with musicians from the actual band and other attendees. In addition, he started to teach trumpet players of all ages from across the world but mostly locally. Garison was a brass teacher and musical assistant director within the St Anne's Band Club, and he is currently occupying the role of a brass teacher within two other band clubs; at the Maestro Frankie Galea Music Academy within the Anici Band Club, and at the Vittoriosa Kids Music Centre within the Societa Musicale St Lawrence.
