About Jenny
I earned a 5 on both AP Calc BC and AP Computer Science tests. However, my understanding of these topics is more than just a number. I've successfully helped over 50 students grasp concepts 3 levels above their grade, and have helped develop AP-level problem-solving skills starting with no prior knowledge. Not only do I have experience as a private tutor, but I have also hosted summer camps and hackathons challenging young learners.
I was a beginner myself, not too long ago. So I know what it's like having endless questions and confusion about coding, and wondering how math is going to help in the "real world". I guarantee that learning with me is going to answer some of these questions for you. Not only will you understand the concepts, but you'll also see them everywhere in your everyday life!
I'll teach you test-taking strategies, how to derive complex Calculus proofs, core principles of Algebra or higher-level math, and how to create abstract, multi-concept projects from scratch. I consolidate fundamentals and build upon intuitive math to branch into more abstract concepts.

I provide a free 30-45 minute diagnostic session to introduce ourselves and see if I'm qualified enough to help you! I teach mostly Java/Python and Math by creating my own curriculum and labs. I also enjoy teaching students how to code games (Wordle, tic-tac-toe, 2048) and pushing them to solve AP-level prompts. I do my best to enforce understanding and visualization, rather than memorization.
I work best with middle and high school students. Many find me patient, enthusiastic and welcoming. With young students, it's often helpful for someone their age to help with their studies. As a student myself, I am updated on the class curriculum and pace to help you succeed in school.
A lesson plan with me typically looks like:
Warm-Up
Conceptual explanation
Practice (labs, prompts, applicative coding/math)
Sometimes, I'll challenge students with timed coding/math prompts to stimulate a test environment (but under lower stakes). Students find this exciting, stimulating, and helpful for their school tests.
I don't typically give homework because I know how overwhelming schoolwork is already. However, upon request, I can give extra practice to push students a little further!
