  • Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?

The first time I used a computer was when I was 7 years old. My parents bought me a computer so I can play learn English and play computer games. Until I was 17 years old I used the computer to keep in touch with friends and play video games - World of Warcraft and Hearthstone.
  • What is the technological evolution that has marked you most and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?

I was born in 1999 and by the time I was 7 years old, technology was used in people's daily routines. Growing up - I saw how the old and clunky technology was replaced by slimmer and faster one. The turning point for me was when Artificial Intelligence started being applied into different products and further improve them - iPhone's Siri, Facebook's friend recommendation algorithm, Youtube's video recommendation etc.
  • Explain your expertise, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.

Since I was 5 years old I have been a Star Wars fan. I was fascinated to this day by aliens and technology the movies have. Star Wars got me excited to pursue technology and curious about how technology can be further improved.

I did my Bachelors in Computer Science and graduated with a 1st. In my second year of my degree I had an Artificial Intelligence module which inspired me to continue my studies in Artificial Intelligence as a master's degree. At the time of writing this I am finishing my master's degree in Artificial Intelligence and will pursue a PhD in this field as well.

Artificial Intelligence makes people's lives easier and can further improve them.
  • Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?

I am inspired by Elon Musk. I admire his self-driving Teslas and how he always wants to further improve them and make them safer. I believe that at some point autopilot Teslas will be better drivers than real people. I am also fascinated by his plan to colonise Mars. I look up to him to try and make the world a better place with my IT skills.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

The best way to learn how to code is by having an idea of a project you would like to build. At the end you will have learnt a lot of new things and have an application for your CV.
  • What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?

Don't worry! Everybody has been there at the beginning. When I started coding I found it difficult and repelling but I was still fascinated by it. It can be very overwhelming at the beginning until you understand how the basics work. The key is to be patient and practice every day. The more time you spend doing it - the easier it becomes. The only difference between you and any IT person is time spent reading and practicing. Never give up!

Learning and understanding IT is easier than learning how to cook a family dinner and being a skilled gamer.
  • What are your other passions, related or non-related to computers?

Aside from working, studying and tutoring, I enjoy drawing, reading books and comic books. I am a big Marvel fan and have a comic book collection. I also collect Lego Star Wars and Star Wars figures. Recently got into Dragon Ball as well!

I also enjoy travelling around the world and learning new things about different cultures.
  • What makes you a Superprof in IT?

My aim is to pass on what I have learned and help anyone who is having issues or is finding programming difficult. I will be more than happy to show you how deep the IT rabbit hole goes. The better you understand something, the easier it is to explain!
