About Isla

I am an enthusiastic Guitar tutor with 11 years of experience and a track record of teaching around 300 students across High School, College, and adult age groups. I enjoy helping students grow step by step, and my teaching style combines structure with creativity. My teaching philosophy is built on encouragement and practical learning. I believe that when students understand the basics clearly and practise consistently, they can achieve amazing results. I focus on essential guitar techniques like chord progressions, rhythm patterns, plucking, fingerstyle basics, and coordination exercises. I also use simple theory lessons to help students understand scales, patterns, and how songs are built. Over the 11 years, I have helped many students improve from complete beginners to confident performers. Some have played in college events, local gatherings, and online platforms. Seeing their improvement inspires me to continue giving my best as a tutor. I design each lesson based on the student’s goals—whether they want to play their favourite songs, perform live, or simply enjoy a new hobby. My aim is to make every session positive, easy to follow, and motivating. I look forward to helping more learners discover the joy and satisfaction of playing guitar.

About the lesson

My teaching approach for Guitar combines strong communication, flexible teaching methods, and practical examples that help students learn in a clear and simple way. I understand that every student has their own learning style, so I adjust my lessons to match their needs. Some students learn best by watching, some by listening, and others by repeating exercises slowly. My teaching adapts to all these styles so learning becomes enjoyable and effective. I begin by building a solid foundation with basic guitar skills—posture, finger placement, basic chords, timing, and strumming patterns. Then I slowly introduce scales, simple melodies, improvisation, and more advanced techniques. To make lessons more meaningful, I use real-life examples from popular songs, classical pieces, and performance situations. I also share mini case studies showing how different musicians use techniques to create their sound. Along with Guitar, I also teach subjects like Music Theory, Ear Training, Songwriting Basics, Chord Progression Building, Rhythm Studies, and Tablature Reading. These subjects help students understand the structure of music and develop creativity. Communication is very important in my classes. I keep a friendly environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, sharing their goals, and expressing what kind of music they enjoy. This helps me design personalised lessons based on their preferred genres such as pop, rock, jazz, classical, blues, or folk. Each session includes a mix of learning, practising, and reviewing. I guide students with step-by-step goals and clear feedback so they always know how to improve. My aim is to help students not just play guitar, but also understand music deeply and find their own musical voice. Through adaptable teaching, useful real-life examples, and strong communication, I support every student’s journey and help them become confident guitar players with creativity and understanding.
