About Rachel
With 8 years of teaching and professional music experience, I am a dedicated violin tutor committed to helping students develop technical proficiency, musical creativity, and confidence.
I teach school and college students at all levels, from beginners learning their first notes to advanced learners preparing for recitals, competitions, and exams. One of the most fulfilling milestones in my career has been seeing students transform from uncertain beginners into confident performers who can play with skill, expression, and emotional depth.
My teaching focuses on building strong technical foundations, including posture, finger placement, bowing technique, rhythm, tone, and intonation, while also nurturing creativity, musical expression, and interpretation. I integrate music theory, sight-reading, listening exercises, and performance practice to ensure students develop a comprehensive understanding of music.
I personalise lessons to each student’s learning style, pace, and goals, creating a patient, supportive, and motivating environment where students are encouraged to explore and grow. Teaching violin allows me to inspire confidence, discipline, and a lifelong love for music.

I teach violin using a methodology grounded in motivation, communication, creativity, and integrity, designed to develop musicians who are technically proficient, expressive, and confident. Lessons are tailored to each student’s abilities, goals, and learning style, combining structured technical training with creative exploration, improvisation, and performance preparation.
Motivation drives my teaching. I help students set achievable goals, track progress, and celebrate accomplishments, fostering engagement, confidence, and perseverance. Communication ensures lessons are interactive and collaborative, providing students with a safe environment to ask questions, share challenges, and explore ideas.
Creativity is integrated into every lesson. Improvisation, interpretation, and composition exercises help students develop a personal artistic voice and emotional connection to music. Integrity emphasises disciplined, responsible practice, respect for learning, and commitment to growth, forming habits that support long-term success.
In addition to violin, I teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, rhythm exercises, and basic piano, giving students a holistic foundation in music. My methodology ensures students progress technically, creatively, emotionally, and personally while cultivating a lifelong love for music.
