About Iris

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have tutored essay writing for GCSE and A-Level English as well as creative writing for GCSE online before as a hobby, and helped students achieve grades A and A*. I am currently one of four editors on our university's creative writing magazine, as well as a voluntary contributor to the competitive role of writer to student articles online for StudentBeans. I have also published creative pieces of my own, and recently published an article for the Art Bulletin, a student newspaper for Art History students. In terms of art, I still continue with it myself and I have exhibited my work before in the art show Opus.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

Yes but it might be out of date - I'll get another one if it is required.

- Do you belong to any professional organisations?

I am a voluntary contributor to student articles for StudentBeans, which is a student website.

- How much do you charge?

I charge £15/h for Art (either level), and £20/h for all other subjects at either level, except for Art History. I charge £25/h for Art History. I will knock £5 off my student's first lesson, but thereafter I shall charge full price. If you book 4 lessons, I will give you the fifth lesson free. If I am required to travel, I will expect my travel expenses to be reimbursed as I will be taking public transport.

- Where do you teach?

I will mainly tutor online, but if it is required I am willing to travel around the Peterborough and Stamford area, or the student may come to my house.

- When are you available?

I am available weekdays and weekends in the day time. My schedule is flexible so times in the day can be negotiated. For online tutoring, I am available during term time as well as vacation. If tutoring in person is required, then I am only available during school holidays, as I will return to uni for term time.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I'm willing to teach students from the age of 8 onwards - there is no maximum age limit. Depending on the subject, I can teach GCSE, A-Level, or Undergraduate level.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

Via emails, MSN and Skype.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

An important thing to an Arts subject is a critical mind, and that can only be developed with time. Confidence plays such a great part in success - so often simply by believing in what you write you can convince the examiner of depth that you would be otherwise unable to express. Success, however, also comes with being able to take criticism. Never cease to find joy in your work, because it can be so much fun.
