About Joe
In the last three years, I've worked with multiple reputable tutoring companies like Ottawa Tutoring, and Paper Tutoring, and have built extensive experience tutoring in person and online. Additionally, I've worked as a volunteer from Carleton's Engineering Orientation program for all of my years at Carleton, as well as a wrestling coach for high school and elementary students. I believe a good tutor should possess strong communication skills and an ability to adapt to a student's needs. Every student has unique strengths and weaknesses, and therefore requires a unique recipe for their success. I will work with students to increase their awareness of these strengths and weaknesses while building the problem-solving skills that will give them the ability to approach difficult subjects with a critical eye and confidence in their own skills. I typically recommend in-person lessons, but I can also do online lessons without issue. I've worked with students over Zoom, Skype, in their homes or in neutral meeting locations such as public libraries. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

In my lessons, I try to help students develop their problem-solving skills and critical thinking, in order to prepare them for problems they may encounter in the future. I've found this approach leads to reinforcement of good habits and stronger results than focusing only on the problem in front of you. I help students with homework, assignments, test/exam prep, as well as any difficult concepts they may come across in class. My goal is never to simply repeat information that a student will hear in a classroom, but to turn their learning into a collaborative experience, where I can help encourage their confidence in solving problems and themselves. My degree gives me extensive experience in math and physics, and I am capable of handling all levels from early high school math up to early university calculus, physics, and engineering courses (on a course-by-course basis). I look forward to helping you on your academic journey!

He was very good at explaining new topics and concepts so I could understand them. He helped me solve problems I was stuck on and teaching me where I went wrong. My mark went up 15 percent working with him!
Joe helped me a lot with my first year calculus class which I definitely needed. Passed my class with an awesome grade and he’s a good part of the reason why. Definitely recommend him if you need to cram for a test!
