About Julian

I have been a full-time teacher of Latin and Classical Civilisation since I qualified in 1990. I am presently Head of Classics in a leading Belfast Grammar School. I have been an Examiner (marker) for OCR (Latin and Classical Civilisation, GCSE and A level) for over 20 years.

About the lesson

Educated originally in Belfast, I pursued my further education in GB: I took my Primary degree in Latin from the University of St Andrews (MA Hons); my teaching qualification (PGCE) from the University of Cambridge; and I returned home to take my PhD from QUB. I take a professional and sympathetic approach to those with difficulties and to those wishing to maximise potential (e.g. Oxbridge entrance candidates). Personal contact fully backed up with all materials available in electronic format.

Julian King has been a colleague of mine at Belfast High School for more than ten years. He is a highly accomplished teacher of Latin and Classical Civilisation. He combines excellent subject knowledge with a good sense of humour. As a Principal Examiner for Classical Civilisation for AQA and as a marker of GCSE Latin for OCR he has significant insight into examining and assessment in these subjects.
