About Me
My name is Jumpei Murakami, and I’m a third-year Economics student at Kyoto University, currently studying abroad at the University of Birmingham. I have over two years of experience in 1-on-1 teaching, and I’m passionate about helping others learn Japanese in a way that is engaging and enjoyable.
Why I Want to Teach Japanese
Teaching Japanese gives me the chance to share the beauty and complexity of my native language. I understand how challenging learning Japanese can be, but I believe that with the right approach, it can also be a fun and rewarding experience. I want to make the learning process as enjoyable as possible, providing an environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves and making progress at their own pace. Seeing my students grow in confidence and understanding of Japanese culture and language is what motivates me to keep teaching.

I tailor my lessons to suit each student’s needs. For example:
You want casual conversations like chatting with a friend.
You’re interested in learning trendy words used by young people in Japan.
A unique feature of my lessons is the use of a popular Japanese card game called Sekirara Cards. This game includes prompts that encourage casual conversations on topics like personal views on relationships or everyday worries—subjects that are often difficult to bring up in regular conversation. In Japan, it’s commonly used during car rides with friends or couples to spark interesting discussions!
While Japanese is a delicate and beautiful language, it can also be quite challenging. That’s why I focus on making learning enjoyable and fun, so you can approach it with excitement rather than difficulty!
