Book guitar lessons with expert teachers

Guitar beginners should start with four essential building blocks that create the basis for progress.

• Guitar components: Know the headstock and other critical elements to discuss technique.
• String identification: The six strings are tuned to E-A-D-G-B-E from lowest to highest.
• Fretting technique: Press strings firmly just before the fret using the pads near your nails.
• Basic strumming: Develop consistent rhythm by moving from the wrist rather than shoulder motion.

These four fundamentals prepare beginners for playing simple songs within the first few weeks.

The average cost of guitar tuition in Forestville is approximately $50/h.

Pricing fluctuates based on various considerations:

• The student's level (advanced, or high school level)
• The instructor's experience (degrees and certifications)
• Session length and regularity (30-minute sessions, weekly)
• Where lessons occur (at your home)

Many instructors provide a complimentary first session so you can assess their style before making a decision.

The 80-20 rule states that the majority of improvement comes from key focused activities.

Instead of working on everything, focus sessions to the exercises that deliver results.

Core 20% activities:

• Smooth chord transitions between basic shapes like G-C-D or E-A-B
• Strumming with consistent timing using a metronome
• Understanding scale patterns in one key thoroughly
• Recognising intervals to understand melodies

This approach maximises practice efficiency by prioritising techniques that unlock the most songs.
