Book guitar lessons with expert teachers

Starting guitarists need to master several foundational concepts before moving to harder skills.

• Guitar components: Know the headstock and other critical elements to discuss technique.
• String identification: Standard tuning assigns particular pitches to all six strings: E-A-D-G-B-E.
• Finger placement: Use your fingertips to press strings firmly near the fret wire.
• Basic strumming: Hold the pick between your thumb and strum across the strings with a relaxed wrist.

Master these basics first to avoid bad habits that become hard to fix.
