Book guitar lessons with expert teachers

Starting guitarists need to master several foundational concepts before moving to songs or complex techniques.

• Guitar anatomy: Know the headstock and other critical elements to communicate clearly.
• String identification: Memorise the six open string notes to read tablature.
• Finger placement: Keep your thumb centered for support while fingers curve naturally.
• Basic strumming: Practice basic downstrokes before adding complex rhythms.

Master these fundamentals first to avoid poor technique that slow progress later.

Private guitar tuition in Mosman averages about $39/h.

This rate fluctuates based on several factors:

• The learner's experience (beginner, or high school level)
• The tutor's credentials (degrees and certifications)
• The format chosen (45-minute sessions, intensive courses)
• The teaching format (at the teacher's studio)

Choosing remote learning can offer flexibility while maintaining excellent teaching.

For guitarists, this means prioritising key techniques like chord changes rather than trying to learn too much.

Examples of high-impact practice:

• Clean chord changes between foundational voicings like G-C-D or E-A-B
• Strumming with consistent timing using rhythmic exercises
• Mastering basic scales in one key thoroughly
