Pianos are built around a 12-note pattern that spans the full instrument.

The complete set includes C, D♭, D, E♭, E, F, G♭, G, A♭, A, B♭, and B.

• Sharp and flat notes are two names for the same key. D♭ and C♯ refer to identical keys.
• The pattern includes 7 white keys and 5 black keys.
• On an 88-key piano, this 12-note pattern repeats over 7 times.

Understanding these 12 notes is essential for reading music and learning scales.

Most piano teachers in Toorak charge roughly $57/h per hour.

The price varies depending on several factors:

• The student's level (beginner, intermediate, advanced)
• The instructor's credentials and expertise (formal education, teaching experience, professional accomplishments)
• The lesson length and regularity of lessons
• The lesson type (online, at home, or at the teacher's studio)

Choosing remote instruction can reduce costs while ensuring effective teaching.

This concept means that strategic practice beats sheer practice time.

The rule guides you to work on weaknesses rather than repeating what you already know.

• Practice hard sections until they match the easier parts.
• Work on technique, sight-reading, and musicality.
• Review new material more frequently than familiar pieces.

This approach prevents wasted time on activities that don't move you forward.
