Find a Psychology Tutor in Mount Waverley

Learning falls into four broad categories in psychology: conditioning (classical and operant), observation, and insight.

• Classical conditioning links a neutral stimulus to an automatic response. Pavlov's dog salivating at a bell is the famous example.
• Operant conditioning uses consequences to increase or decrease actions. A bonus for meeting targets reinforces that behaviour.
• Observational learning means copying behaviours we see in people around us. We often learn social skills simply by observing friends.
• Insight learning is that flash of clarity when a solution clicks into place. This explains breakthroughs that seem to arrive out of nowhere.

Knowing these categories lets you study smarter and retain more.

Psychology tutoring in Mount Waverley typically costs $43/h per hour.

This rate can vary depending on several factors:

• The student's level (Year 11–12, uni, or honours level)
• The tutor's qualifications and experience (registered psychologist, PhD candidate, or recent graduate)
• Lesson length and frequency (single lessons vs bundled packages)
• Lesson format (online, in-home, or at the tutor's location)

Many tutors offer discounted rates for regular bookings, which can lower your overall cost.

The discipline is built around describing, explaining, predicting, and influencing human behaviour.

• Describe — Researchers observe and document behaviour without interpretation.
• Explain — Once described, they investigate why behaviour occurs.
• Predict — Good theories let researchers anticipate outcomes.
• Control — The ultimate aim is using insights to help people.

A tutor can show you how each goal connects theory to real-world applications.
