About Grace
Having confidence in English and in reading and writing at this level is an essential skill set necessary to achieve high marks across all GCSE subjects and more importantly, it’s a foundation for A-level courses and later life.
I had great teachers at GCSE and found the course extremely rewarding so to help other students take the same appreciation and confidence that I did away from their study is so important. My aspirations are to continue English at University and I truly believe that a teacher/tutor who genuinely loves their subject will provide a far more active and interesting learning environment.

Hi! My name is Grace Taylor and i’m an A-level Literature student currently studying in year 12 at a grammar school. Lessons would be for year 11 currently revising and reviewing content for their GCSE exams this summer term, and those in year 9/10 just beginning their course that would like some extra-curricular support!
If anyone in younger years who isn’t currently doing GCSE level content would like to be in contact with a specific subject requirement, please let me know and i’ll consider how beneficial I might be towards their learning.
In 2021, I achieved 9s in both English GCSEs on the AQA exam board so I have a detailed understanding of the current GCSE exams and the preparation needed for them. I covered Lord of the Flies, Macbeth and Jekyll and Hyde during my study so for students also using those texts I have a familiarity and more well-rounded comprehension.
Particularly after completing their mocks, if there were specific aspects of the course that students have found more challenging, for example essay structure and writing, I can create and adapt exercises to build confidence in exam technique, otherwise we can follow their in-school lessons and revise and review subjects they’ve been covering with teachers in order to cement their learning.
Tutoring would run for an hour on a weekday evening, during which time we’ll cover a section of the SPEC that the individual has identified as more challenging, usually through writing exercises and revising quotations/key moments in their assigned text, i.e. how to use them and remember them effectively which is necessary for top marks. We can also read through required text together, practice spelling and punctuation for SPAG marks and eventually practice with exam style questions when they feel confident enough to build technique for their actual exam.
Every session is completely adaptable to the student, the goal is to encourage their learning at a pace they feel most comfortable working with and in a way that’s engaging, to ensure steady progress!
