About Alex
Currently I am a Year 13 A-Level student working towards A*A*A despite my official predictions of AAB in Maths, Further Maths and Physics - and a possible participation in the STEP exams this summer! After being advised to be a tutor, I am finally willing to commit helping other students' (as well as my own) studies and revision!
I have taught 3 GCSE students in the previous academic year as a private tutor (one voluntarily, two paid by my school), they all managed to achieve (or exceed) their targets (two grade 5s and a 7) which is an incredible reward not only for myself, but for their futures as well!
To describe myself, I am a curiously keen mathematician and physicist. I hope to go to a russell group university for Mathematical Physics (MSci) - my ambition is to become a post-doctoral physicist or become a teacher of maths and physics hence why I am deciding to gain experience as a tutor in addition to my range of wide skills of these subjects.

The teaching method I will apply is fairly theory-heavy (particularly in physics rather than maths) which I believe is the most crucial of a subject. A-Level and GCSE are notorious for saying 'this is how it's done', but not 'this is why it's done like this'. The understanding of the subject is the absolute foundation of achieving ambition, in which too many students sadly miss.
A solid theory-based seminar type of lesson with helpful examination question sheets with additional optional homework will guide the student to success. Of course, everyone is accustomed to their own pace of learning in which I adapt to very quickly once I get to know the student better and how can we bridge the learning gap and grades by recapping, analysing weaknesses to gain extra marks. The small details matter for the bigger picture.
For GCSE Maths and GCSE & A-Level Physics:
I can teach the majority of anything in these subjects.
For A-Level Mathematics:
In maths I can teach all pure and mechanics content, I struggle myself in statistics but I can teach probability and regression.
For A-Level Further Mathematics:
For Further Maths, I can teach all pure content (including Further Pure 1) and Further Mechanics 1. I have experience and can teach most of the Decision 1 theory.
