About Ian
I played the trumpet in band and orchestral classes all through school, and was a member of the "Pride of West Virginia - The Mountaineer Marching Band" during my time at West Virginia University. Most recently, I was a member of the Little German Band based in Raleigh. I have decades of experience that I bring to the table. Highlights of my performances include: Performing at Carnegie Hall with my high school orchestra. Winning the "National Marching Band" Award for my service to high school marching band. Playing on the field at several football stadiums across the country with the Mountaineer Marching Band. Marching in Downtown Raleigh with the Little German Band at the St Patrick's Day Parade.

I teach beginner and elementary level B-flat trumpet. For those looking to get started, I teach lessons lasting for 60 minutes. We will go through a workbook designed to help introduce the trumpet to new players, as well as help with any elementary-level band pieces the student may be learning for performances. What sets me apart as a teacher is that I understand how important it is to get a foundation on playing any instrument, in order to get the most out of the playing experience.
