About Lionel

Academic: Commenced tertiary studies in 1997 at the then Pretoria Technikon (currently TUT) on a part-time basis and in the department of HRM and obtained the NC in HRM during 1998. During 1999 he switched and continued his tuition with the then Technikon South Africa (TSA) (currently Unisa), via distance education and in 2003 obtained the ND in HRM (majoring in HR- & Business Management) at TSA. Thereafter successfully completed the B Tech in HRD (Majoring in Training & Development Strategies and Advanced Management of Training inclusive of Project Management) in 2006 at UNISA. Career Experience: His HRM, Administration & HRD career commenced with the SA Navy during 1980 and held various HRM and leader positions until 30 November 2000. Gained valuable HRM and HRD experience at academic institutions whilst in the employ of the University of South Africa (Unisa) and the University of Johannesburg (UJ) respectively over the period 2001 to 2010. At Unisa served as HR Generalist for the Colleges of Law, Humanities and Business Management. At UJ was placed as the first incumbent in the then newly created responsibility of HOD (HRM, HRD & Administration) for UJ’s 4 Library & Information Centres. Portrays a phenomenal passion for the development of people and was instrumental in Recruitment, Selection & Placement of more than 3000 recruits for the SA Navy NGO- & Business Development: Furthermore, involved in various learning initiatives, which also involves community engagements with & for Child Welfare Tshwane (CWT). Currently engaged at CWT as Manager for HR, HRD & Supply Chain & Project Management Functions. Part of the challenges here was to structure the entire HR and SCM functions respectively and its related roles thus providing security and peace of mind for the entire organisation. The aforementioned is a business model which could be rolled out in any NGO, NPO or SMME business environments.

About the lesson

I have a passion for the development of potential within others. Contact sessions will be experiential as I have over 30 years of practical experience at various management and leadership levels. I also teach English online/contact sessions as a second/foreign language. I am currently an Independent Contractor on both, a National & an International platform respectively.
