About Bryan
I have been a teacher for a very long time. I’ve taught at the university level, and also taught in elementary school. I have coached students to win competitions, to become professional musicians themselves, and also to just enjoy playing music. I’ve written curriculum for several schools, and have run my own school. I have toured across the United States twice, recorded many albums across several genres, and am currently working on a new one. I live in San Francisco and like to surf when I get a chance.

Having taught guitar for over 25 years now, my education and experience don’t matter. Sometimes I think students are afraid that because of my extensive background, my lessons will be very traditional and boring, and geared towards career students. The truth is, what is truly great about my lessons, and believe me, it took me a long time to figure this out, is that I will teach you how to teach yourself. Here’s math: If you’re a beginner, our lesson will last 30 minutes. You will then practice between 60 and 150 minutes during the next 6 days, before receiving another 30 minute lesson, repeat. We can now both agree that the majority of your practice will be alone, without my help. My lessons are designed to keep you out of that rut, and most importantly, your playing will stand on its own. Learning solo fingerstyle guitar is the most rewarding, enjoyable experience I’ve ever had. I remember what it was like before I learned this style: I knew how to play like 1 minute of every song, but not a thing I played was actually entertaining for anyone. I will teach you how to be a true entertainer, by yourself, or with a band/ensemble.
