About Sonia
Teaching math is a daily pursuit that stems from my deep background as a PhD candidate in Statistics. I have spent 9 years refining how I explain tricky concepts to students ranging from casual learners to competitive math participants.
Guiding 425 students through SAT or ACT math prep has taught me that clarity is the most effective tool in any classroom. My lessons focus on building a robust foundation in trigonometry, probability, and mental math. I prioritize conceptual learning so that word problems stop feeling like obstacles and start looking like familiar puzzles. Starting our first session can feel intimidating, yet I find that most students simply need a fresh perspective on the fundamentals. Using my background in advanced mathematics, I demonstrate how 6 core strategies can resolve nearly any type of word problem.
