About Mary
I am a writer based in Los Angeles with an undergraduate degree in mathematics and media studies and an MFA in dramatic writing. I've been tutoring math, writing, and test prep for over four years. I have also worked as a teaching assistant at the undergraduate level, which taught me not only how to work college-level students, but also how to better prepare my high school students for college.

My approach to teaching varies with each student. I like to begin by getting to know each student's goals and challenges, which allows me to customize a plan for tutoring and independent study. As we work together, I build an understanding of that student's learning style, and adapt my approach accordingly.
In general, I prefer asking questions and providing guidance to giving answers too readily. My goal for all students is for them to be able to tackle their chosen subjects independently and with confidence.
