About Rebecca
Hi! My name is Becks and I am a Master's Student in Applied Mathematics at the University of Washington. Before coming to Seattle, I studied Mathematics on the Actuarial track with economics and data science minors at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York where I got my Bachelor of Science Degree, Magna Cum Laude. My first tutoring position was at an SAT prep summer camp seven years ago. Since then, I have taught SAT and ACT prep classes, tutored algebra and calculus to high schoolers, and worked at my university's math lab which caters to math for all majors. Most recently, I served as a teaching assistant for the undergraduate Calculus courses at UW where I led quiz and workshop sections!

I love tutoring math. Oftentimes, math gets a bad reputation, but I believe when taught to match your learning style, it can be quite fun! That has quickly become my favorite thing about tutoring, seeing students realize their full abilities. One of the most rewarding moments has to be when my students try a new problem and they say "Wait, that's it? It makes so much sense now!"
My goal is to emphasize understanding over memorization and with that, hopefully, give the students newfound confidence and love for math! Are you a practical learner and need an example? Or are you a visual learner who needs a drawing? No matter what you need, you will find that I am the tutor who adapts each session to the way you or your child learn best. Rebecca has tutored me in ways I couldn't understand math before. I used to get a lot of anxiety around math before, but her methods have helped me tremendously in connecting the dots.
