I've tutored probably 35 students, of all ages (6-37), one-on-one over the past 5 years. I've tutored for middle school math courses, Algebra, Algebra II, Trig, PreCalc, Calculus, SOL's, and the Praxis I Exam. I've helped students pass their classes and standardized tests.

I recognize that some students struggle with math more than others, but I'm convinced that anyone can be successful in math. It just requires that the content be presented in ways that are familiar to the student, or that the student can relate to. Over time, I've developed this vital skill of thinking on my feet to provide explanations that are accessible to the student I'm working with. Once the student grasps a basic understanding of a concept, I often use a technique known as scaffolding - a gradual transition of material from teacher to student - so that the student comfortably learns how to put the concept into practice on their own. As long as a student is willing to learn, I'm willing to work tirelessly to ensure they understand the material.
