About Taegyu
Hi, my name is Michael, and I am a dedicated student tutor with a strong background in math, science, and academic support. My biggest goal is to make students understand rather than memorize. As a current student striving well in school, I learned that true academic success and intellectual growth come from a deeper understanding of the concept over surface-level memorization of the theories and formulas. Hence, this mental model guides my teaching style; I aim to evoke a deeper understanding from the students.

My teaching method focuses on building true understanding instead of memorizing formulas. I explain concepts in simple steps, use examples, and guide students through practice problems until they can solve them independently.
A typical lesson starts with a quick review of the student’s current topic or homework, followed by a clear explanation of the key concept. Then, we work through sample problems together before the student tries similar problems on their own. I end by reviewing mistakes and giving tips for improvement.
What sets me apart as a tutor is that I understand what students struggle with because I have taken challenging math and science classes myself. I try to make lessons encouraging, patient, and easy to follow.
My lessons are mainly for elementary, middle school, and high school students who need help in math, physics, or test preparation. I can help with classwork, homework, studying for quizzes and tests, and strengthening weak areas.
