About Thea
My journey in mathematics began with a fascination for patterns, structures, and the logical relationships underlying the world around us. I earned a B.Sc in Pure Mathematics, which provided a strong foundation in theory, problem-solving, and analytical reasoning. Over 11 years of teaching, I have supported learners from diverse backgrounds in developing a deep conceptual understanding, analytical skillset, and confidence in applying mathematical principles.
I believe mathematics should be taught with clarity, patience, and adaptability. I tailor lessons to each student’s needs, using real-life examples, visual aids, and interactive problem-solving to make abstract concepts tangible. I emphasise logical reasoning and conceptual understanding, encouraging students to explore multiple strategies and reflect critically on their learning process.
Outside teaching, I stay engaged with mathematical research, applied problem-solving, and interdisciplinary applications. Teaching mathematics is deeply fulfilling because I see learners grow from uncertainty to confidence, developing both competence and curiosity. Supporting students in becoming independent thinkers and problem-solvers is the most rewarding aspect of my work.

Mathematics lessons with me emphasise building conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and analytical reasoning rather than memorisation. I focus on teaching algebra, calculus, geometry, probability, and statistics through step-by-step explanations and practical examples. Lessons are interactive, integrating visual aids, real-world applications, and exercises that encourage learners to think critically about problems. I structure sessions to gradually increase complexity, providing consistent support and feedback while fostering confidence in tackling unfamiliar problems.
As students progress, lessons cover advanced topics such as multivariable calculus, linear algebra, discrete mathematics, and combinatorics. I guide learners in approaching complex problems systematically, reinforcing logical reasoning, pattern recognition, and problem-solving strategies. Exercises include reflective discussion, stepwise solutions, and real-world applications to ensure students internalise concepts and apply them independently. Each session encourages curiosity, persistence, and mastery.
Mathematics education also strengthens focus, critical thinking, and resilience. Students develop confidence in explaining solutions, approaching challenges, and reasoning logically. My goal is to inspire learners to see mathematics as a meaningful, engaging, and empowering discipline, equipping them with the skills to excel both academically and intellectually.
