About Sylvia
Hello, my name is Szilvia.
I am a biomedical engineer and a graduate of the Universities of Stuttgart and Tübingen in Germany. My studies gave me a broad overview of scientific subjects.
During my university years, I discovered what is now my passion: teaching mathematics.
I grew up in Hungary, later attended a bilingual secondary school with Hungarian and English, and then completed my university studies in German in Germany. For the past three years, I have been tutoring students throughout Europe. As a result, I am not only highly proficient in English, Hungarian, and German, but I am also familiar with different curricula. Whether it is middle school or secondary education up to university, I can support and guide students throughout their journey.
Three years ago, I also began teaching IB students at both Standard and Higher Level.

My philosophy is that students do not need to be the best in their class, but rather the best version of themselves. I intentionally set my expectations slightly higher than school standards so that learners can build confidence and further develop their abilities.
I teach online. I understand that there can be scepticism toward this format, as during the COVID-19 pandemic many teachers were unable to fully utilise digital tools, often leaving children and parents struggling. I have developed my system in such a way that students experience no difference compared to in-person lessons.

Details
My hourly rate is £25 per 60 minutes. If you would like additional homework from me based on our lesson, there is an extra charge of £5. Discount: If you regularly book 3 hours per week, the hourly rate is reduced by £5.
