About Steve

Get on track with your maths at all levels, including GCSE, A Level or PGCE Maths Equivalency tests.
I have worked as a secondary school maths teacher and Head of Department in the South Wales area for more than 20 years, helping young people to achieve their potential at all levels in mathematics. This means that I know the needs of the WJEC specifications and exams particularly well and can pass on key knowledge to you in a friendly, patient and supportive way.
Most recently, I have worked in a local University leading trainee teachers who are studying for their PGCE Mathematics qualification. As an experienced teacher, teacher educator and tutor I understand the challenges that maths can bring and am always keen to tailor my teaching methods so that confidence and success can be achieved. My online maths tuition gives you the flexibility to fit sessions in around your other commitments without inconvenience or the additional time and costs of travel.

About the lesson

Building confidence and encouraging a 'have a go' mentality are keys to improving your maths skills. My teaching is based on building a trusting relationship and adapting to your needs. It is simple to connect with me online via Zoom for sessions that are interactive and give you the chance to answer and discuss skills, questions and strategies 'live' as if we were in the same room.
Maths can seem a bit daunting at times, but students I have tutored find my sessions informative, enjoyable and confidence boosting which all helps to lead to the improvements that they are looking for. Putting in the effort together will lead to greater success!

Perfect! Steve is a pleasure to have as my daughters tutor. Steve really cares about getting the best out of my daughter and he is so enthusiastic. His teaching style is great as he makes my daughter know it’s ok to make a mistake as that’s how we learn. So pleased to have found Steve.

Steve is a fantastic teacher and can explain terms/methods in a way I can understand!

I was looking for a maths tutor to help me with quite a specific task, revising for an Equivalency exam I need to sit for my PGCE course. Steve was the perfect fit, not only having some much teaching experience (20+ years) but he used to run the equivalency sessions at the university I am currently studying at.

He understands that some of the maths I need to learn (remember) is already in my head somewhere and it just needs awaking again because I haven't needed to use it since I did my GCSEs.

Steve's teaching style is very relaxed and informal which is great because it doesn't feel like you are being taught as such, just sitting down and having a good conversation about maths and at the end of it, you have learnt something. He is also extremely flexible when booking sessions in and moving them around if you need to change them.

I would highly recommend Steve to any who is need of a math's tutor.
