I believe that the best way to improve upon exams is by improving general knowledge of the topic first and then work on exam technique. Classes would begin by supplementing any unknown knowledge and then putting what you have learned into practise by completing exam questions. Most importantly we would go through the question and correct any mistakes made to ensure that they are not made again.
